Lancaster to conduct a year-long community-wide health assessment

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Lancaster plans to assess the health needs of its community by working with outside consultants.

A year-long health assessment, which includes focus groups and door-to-door canvassing (March through June), will be conducted to identify ways to resolve issues.

The aim of the assessment is to close gaps in access to quality healthcare.

“The goal of the Community Needs Assessment is to review the health needs of the community in the wake of the pandemic, which we know has exacerbated the problems faced by our residents,” said Craig Walt, Lancaster City Office Manager for Community Development.

City officials say research over the last decade points to a link between certain living conditions and overall health.

The final report is expected in 2024. Lancaster to conduct a year-long community-wide health assessment
