Brazilian giants Santos could sell prodigy Renyer for just £1.5million, while Premier League giants Leeds United are trying to hold their own against rivals AC Milan and Benfica, as reported by SempreMilan.
When it comes to bringing out the next generation of Brazilian talent, the Santos production line is as productive as it gets. Neymar, Rodrygo Goes and Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa are just three players who have made their mark in black and white.
And then there’s Kaio Jorge, now from Juventus. Kayky, meanwhile, joined Manchester City in April 2021. And with just over a year left on his contract, it seems only a matter of time before Renyer embarks on a well-traveled route from Vila Belmiro to the other side of the Atlantic.
Leeds United in the running for Renyer
The teenager’s agent reportedly told the Portuguese publication recording Back in May, Leeds United, among others, had expressed an interest in a striker who seems to share Neymar’s stunning skills and penchant for the unexpected.
“(Renyer’s agent Emerson) Zulu told me Benfica have great admiration for the player,” writes Record reporter Fabiano Abreu Agrela.
“But that Premier League clubs like Leeds United have already given the young Brazilian good credentials.”
Santos found himself able to demand colossal fees for Neymar and Rodrygo when Barcelona and Real Madrid called. Renyer, on the other hand, could be available for as little as £1.5million as his contract expires in November 2023.
Leeds have already signed Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen. Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams and Darko Gyabi also came. However, Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta still have work to do.
A new left-back is needed after Junior Firpo’s two-month injury layoff. Ditto a new centre-forward.
It’s not certain Renyer would be used as a first-team option. Or maybe if he would have to earn his spurs under Mike Jackson at U23 level.
