It has not been a brilliant season for Leeds United.
Due to a never-ending injury crisis, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been in the relegation zone in the Premier League for an entire season, never really falling into the bottom three.
And for a Leeds side that finished ninth in the table during the term before their return to the Premier League, that was to say at least underwhelming.
However, this could be the season to be remembered forever for the man who gave birth to Joe Gelhardt.
The 19-year-old has established himself as an absolute gem after breaking into Bielsa’s senior squad, thanks to the fitness efforts of Patrick Bamford.
The former Wigan academy player, who was signed by Leeds for £1m in 2020, exploded onto the scene and scored his first away Premier League goal for Chelsea in December.
Despite his inexperience, the youngster seems completely fearless no matter who the Elland Road side face.
And Four four two included him in the list of 50 most interesting teenagers in the world.
Gelhardt – nicknamed Joffy – is 31st on the list and even some Leeds supporters might argue it should be higher, based on his limited but undeniable credentials so far.
Next season could be huge for prospects.
