Rangers defender James Maxwell is currently wanted at Leeds United after impressing on loan from Ibrox this season.

Daily Mail’s request that Maxwell is on Leeds’ radar as they want a young left-back to play in their under-23s.

Junior Firpo hasn’t excelled in the starting XI, so perhaps Leeds feel they need a young left-back to develop behind him.

Maxwell is the current pick for Leeds, with the white man seemingly impressed with his performance against Rangers.

Formerly Falkirk’s man, Maxwell has joined the Rangers ranks since 2019.

With few starting opportunities this season, Rangers sent Maxwell to Ayr United in the Scottish second division on loan.

In 17 league games, Maxwell has one goal and three assists – a very impressive offensive result.

With Calvin Bassey playing at center back under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, perhaps Rangers will want Maxwell to be Borna Barisic’s future competitor.

That means fending off Leeds, who have been active in under-23 recruitment and sometimes in Scotland.

Leo Hjelde joined Celtic last summer while Stuart McKinstry arrived from Motherwell.

The signing of Maxwell will continue that trend for Leeds, but Rangers certainly won’t give up on Maxwell so easily.
