London Police Receive Sexual Assault Report – The Hollywood Reporter

London’s Met Police have said they have received a report of a suspected sexual assault in relation to the recently reported allegations against Russell Brand.

Over the weekend, the comedian, actor and television presenter was the subject of a joint investigation by The times, The Sunday Times And Channel 4 shows Four women accused him of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013, all of which he vehemently denied.

“We are aware of the reports Sunday Times and Channel 4 broadcasts about allegations of sexual offenses,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said in a statement released by The guard. “On Sunday 17 September, the Met received a report of a sexual assault which allegedly took place in Soho, central London, in 2003. Officers are in contact with the woman and will provide support.”

Scotland Yard added: “We spoke to them first Sunday Times on Saturday, September 16, and have made further advances since then Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure anyone who believes they have been the victim of a sexual offense knows how to report it to the police. We continue to encourage anyone who believes they have been the victim of a sexual offense, no matter how long ago it was, to contact us.”

Following the revelation about Brand, which was published on September 16, the BBC, Channel 4 and Banijay UK, which employed Brand at various stages of his career and during the period in which the allegations were allegedly made, have respectively publishes its own reports, internal investigations. In an email to staff at Channel 4 – where Brand found fame as the presenter of the Big Brother spin-off Big brother’s big mouth – said it was looking into whether people on the network “had knowledge of the alleged conduct.”
