Who is Falligar the Behemoth?

During the teaser trailer for Thor: Love and ThunderThor and Korg stand in a frozen landscape overlooking the carcass of a fallen animal.

The beast is known as Falligar the Behemoth from the Marvel Comics, and the scene featured in the trailer is straight from the comics.

Known as the tutelary god of the Galactic Frontier and champion of the Tournament of Immortals, Falligar is also an ally of Thor. However, in Marvel lore, Thor discovered that Falligar was killed by Gorr the God Butcher, which is likely the same path the film will take.

As a fun trivia related to Falligar, it is said that the god likes to wrestle with black holes to show off the beast’s tremendous strength.

Falligar’s comic appearance

Falligar the Behemoth only appeared in one volume of Marvel Comics Thor: God of Thunder No. 3, published December 2012.

God’s only appearance was in the edition The God Butcher, Part Three of Five: The Hall of the Lost.

The series follows Thor as he investigates a number of missing gods in the Hall of the Lost to determine if Gorr the Godslayer is responsible.

When Thor discovers the body of the alien god Falligar, he begins to blame himself for not killing Gorr sooner after leaving the devastation in his wake.

How did Gorr become the Godslayer?

Gorr suffered many tragedies in his life, beginning with the death of his parents. Gorr later lost his wife and children to an earthquake and starved to death during the aftermath.

Gorr was banished after losing his faith in the gods due to years of unanswered prayers while his family died around him.

During his solo journey across the desert, Gorr stumbled upon two gods fighting each other and was shocked to realize that gods existed but were of no help to him all these years.

While a god asked for help, Gorr became enraged and combined with one of the god’s swords, which emanated a mass of darkness, becoming All-Black the Necrosword.

Gorr then killed the begging god with the necro sword and vowed to take revenge on all the gods for ignoring his prayers and took the name of Gorr the God Slayer.
