“We continued to meet up for a few months after the villa. It was really difficult with the distance between Melbourne and Sydney,” said Hibberd.

“There were many challenges and ultimately it didn’t work out. I don’t think the timing is right but we caught up recently which was really good.

“We are both very supportive and think the world of each other. We’re still friends, we still speak, but we’re not together.’

Provis agreed with the footy player, 25, but revealed he was the one who initiated the breakup because he was “emotionally unavailable enough to be in a relationship.”

However, the 25-year-old PR consultant went on to say, “I’ve never been able to fault anything in particular – apart from the fact that we’re the same people who broke up six months ago.”

The former couple said they’re happy to remain friends and suggested they’d even be ready to start romance again if they were in a better place individually.

Speaking on Hit Network’s Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield earlier this year, Provis confessed she was “shocked” at the time of their initial split.

“I didn’t think I would be sitting here and having this conversation three weeks ago,” she said. “I’m shocked that things turned out the way they were.”

She said the two had a great relationship and friendship, but they woke up one day and realized things just weren’t the way they used to be.
