Luis Diaz qualifies for Champions League if he closes £38m move to Anfield

So Liverpool appear to be about to make a major move in the market for the first time in a while, as a £37.5 million deal for Luis Diaz close.

As BBC explained, the Reds had planned to sign the Colombia international in the summer, but the prospect of him joining Tottenham this month forced them to act.

Julian Ward has spearheaded negotiations for Diaz, with Sporting Director Michael Edwards – who is leaving Anfield this summer – playing a supporting role.

Diaz got a taste of Anfield this season when he played in Porto’s 0-2 Champions League defeat to Liverpool on November 24.

You might be wondering if that means the 25-year-old has now won the trophy for the knockout stages – let’s see.

Although do six Having appeared in the Champions League this season, Diaz is eligible to play for Liverpool for the remainder of the tournament.

Perhaps someone like Takumi Minamino will have to pave the way, which will be very harsh for the Japanese player.

However, Diaz has to be involved, too, so keep an eye out for who Klopp decides to use to replace the Colombian marksman.
