Teen Mom star Maci Bookout revealed it was a “huge” relief that Ryan Edwards was no longer on the show.

Teen Mom star Maci Bookout is relieved that she doesn’t have to film with her ex-boyfriend Ryan Edwards.

The former couple have a son together, 13-year-old Bentley. But Edwards and his family were fired from MTV after Bookout and her husband Taylor McKinney got into a falling out with Bentley’s paternal grandparents Jen and Larry Edwards at the “Teen Mom” reunion in 2021.

Bookout implied that “Teen Mom” soured her relationship with Edwards.

“I think being on TV and doing this show wasn’t the main reason why our relationship was always so toxic,” Bookout said page six.

“But … there was no way to create space or space for us to heal or move on or get over some things because we have to constantly talk about each other when we’re not even talking.” to each other,” she continued to page six. “What shoud that? So yes, it’s safe to say it’s a huge relief.”

Bookout doesn’t think she will ever co-parent Edwards

Bookout said it made no sense for Edwards to be on the show anymore because they were never parents together. She always communicated with Jen and Larry Edwards to arrange meetings for Bentley.

“So it got to a point where it didn’t feel very authentic because I had never really become parents with him. I was only ever raised with his parents,” Bookout told Page Six. “I’m really not trying to be mean, but in my opinion you need to actually show up and be a parent to a co-parent.”

Bookout doesn’t think Edwards will ever be the father she hoped for Bentley.

“What I hoped or wished for will probably never happen,” she told Page Six. “It’s up to nobody but Ryan, so I don’t envision a world where we’re actually co-parents.”

Bookout is with Amber Portwood

While Bookout is relieved that she no longer has to talk about her ex-boyfriend on Teen Mom, she struggles to reach out to the co-star Amber Portwood.

The Native American lost custody of her son, 4-year-old James, in July after a judge ruled her ex-fiancé Andrew Glennon would receive primary custody.

“I just feel like if someone close to you is going through a difficult time like her, when I think of her, I’ll text her,” Bookout said Us weekly. “Because I guess I never know if there’s a moment when she really needs someone to check in and I don’t want to check in. And I think it’s important that the people who are close to her do that. ”

Portwood, 32, does not have custody of any of her children. She lost custody of her daughter, 13-year-old Leah, in 2011 after Child Protection Services. Portwood fought for her rights for five years but settled with her ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley. She agreed to pay him child support and give him primary custody of Leah.
