Man accused of raping woman walking in downtown Louisville

A Louisville man is being charged after police allege he raped a woman in broad daylight as she was walking through downtown Louisville. An arrest slip said 37-year-old Travis Hall approached a woman around 9:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Jefferson Street. This is near the Shell gas station and just a few blocks from the convention center and the Omni Hotel. Police said Hall touched the woman’s buttocks and then pulled her behind a wall. The police report goes on to say that Hall then pushed the woman to the ground. pulled down her pants and raped her. Police said Hall then walked away. A witness heard the woman screaming for help and was able to snap a photo of Hall on top of the victim, police say. The woman was taken to UofL hospital where she has evidence of a sexual assault collection kit completed. Hall faces charges of rape and sexual abuse, both first-degree charges. His indictment is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m.
