Manchester City are reportedly set to hear offers of £80million for Raheem Sterling this summer, with Arsenal reportedly interested in the English superstar.

According to the Daily StarThe reigning Premier League champions are open to sacking an attacker in the transfer window, with Pep Guardiola set to bring in a natural centre-forward, with one of Sterling or Gabriel Jesus likely to leave Manchester.

The two players are yet to agree new deals at City and, according to the report, Sterling could leave the Premier League giants if a club meets the £80m valuation for the 26-year-old attacker, with Arsenal reportedly at the former Liverpool winger is interested.

The Daily Star had previously reported that Arsenal are one of the clubs chasing Sterling, who has 18 months left on his current contract with City, a position that could allow the Gunners to negotiate a lower fee for the striker.

Sterling, a player Thierry Henry is a big fan of, could be an interesting attacking move for Arsenal this summer as Mikel Arteta previously worked with the striker during their time together at City.

However, despite the pair’s past successes at Manchester, Sterling is a player who doesn’t fit the profile Arsenal are looking for this summer with the Gunners well-stocked on the wing positions.

Arsenal need a natural no. 9 is greater than signing Sterling

There’s no denying Sterling is a world-class attacker who would be perfect for Arsenal if they didn’t have two gems up their sleeves in Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, and with a centre-forward, the key signing for the Gunners this summer, The City winger makes even less sense as a transfer window addition.

While Sterling has impressed again this season and is rightly valued by the likes of Henry, there is no denying the potential of both Saka and Martinelli and Arsenal’s need for a natural no. 9 are much more important than signing the City star.
