A 32-year-old man in Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced Tuesday to 38 to 40 years in prison for three years of sexually abusing a teenage girl.
The teenager, whose name was not released, first reported to the Lincoln Police Department on July 14, 2020 that he was sexually assaulted by Daniel Stalder, KLKN reported, citing court records.
Stalder initiated sexual intercourse with the victim over 100 times, beginning when the girl was 14.
The abuse happened several times a week when the victim was between 14 and 16 years old. The victim said that during this time she became pregnant with Stalder’s child.
The teenager said Stalder gave her a pill and urged her to end the pregnancy. The pill caused an allergic reaction that resulted in the victim being taken to the hospital and told she had miscarried.
The victim told authorities she waited to report the abuse because “she knew her sexual relationship with Stalder was wrong and she was never ‘for it’,” according to the court filing.
According to court records, Stalder would find ways to make the girl feel guilty if she refused to have sex with him. He also gifted the teenager an iPhone and a vehicle.
A police investigation involved several recorded phone calls the girl had with Stalder for over a month.
In the calls, the 32-year-old never contradicted or denied the relationship. However, Stalder stated that he felt sorry for the agony the girl had to go through.
Stalder pleaded no-appeal to two counts of attempted first-degree sexual assault on a minor.
