Manchester City fans will love what Luis Suarez did ahead of Atlético Madrid’s 1-0 win

Last night Manchester City recorded a 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Interestingly, the Spanish champions didn’t have a single shot at the Etihad Stadium as Luis Suarez – a man who would certainly have tested Ederson at least once – failed to get off the bench.

Pep Guardiola will have been delighted to see the Uruguayan on the touchline and Manchester City fans will also have enjoyed seeing what the 35-year-old did before kick-off.
What’s the matter?
Well, the former Liverpool man clearly has a lot of respect for the Citizens as he was filmed telling his team-mates not to step on the club crest.

As you can see above, the South American was careful not to step on the Manchester City badge as he stepped onto the Etihad Stadium pitch and also told Rodrigo de Paul not to step on it either.
Having earned a reputation in England for being something of a bad boy during his Liverpool days, some fans may be surprised to see this.
Despite the Citizens ruining Suarez’s best shot at a Premier League title with Liverpool, he clearly has no bad feelings towards Manchester City.
Atlético Madrid need to do more against Manchester City
Of course, Etihad Stadium isn’t an easy place to be, but it’s unforgivable that Atlético Madrid didn’t have a single shot.
When Guardiola takes his side to the Wanda Metropolitano, the Spanish champions will need to improve significantly if they are to reach the semi-finals.
Also with just 29% possession, Atlético Madrid were hammered in every way except scoring last night in Manchester.
Hopefully we’ll see a more balanced game in Madrid when the second leg takes place on Wednesday 13 April.
