Well, Liverpool are reportedly interested in Ismaila Sarr… again.
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for the Watford winger.
Accordingly Corriere dello Sport In Italy, Jürgen Klopp’s team are interested in the Senegalese international.
And we already know that a certain Sadio Mane is a big fan.
Speaking about his compatriot in August 2019, Mane recounted the athlete: “He is fast. I think the defenders will fight. Last time I spoke to Robbo [Andy Robertson] I said, ‘Watford have a really good player. I need to help you more or Ismaila Sarr will kill you because he is a good dribbler and very, very fast.’”
Honestly, probably not.
Sarr is definitely a good player and Mane’s comments about him strongly support that claim.
However, we are talking about Liverpool here.
Being ‘good’ just isn’t enough and besides, the Reds would sign him to replace Mohamed Salah and 10 goals in 44 Premier League games isn’t that outstanding.
We say Salah’s replacement because Liverpool have already signed Luis Diaz and spent £49m on him in January.
The Colombia international will become Manes’ long-term successor on the left attacking side, meaning that if Sarr comes in, it would be for the right flank, ie Salah’s area.
Being tricky and lightning fast isn’t enough to make a move to Liverpool, as Adama Traore has proved.
So no, despite Mane’s comments, this wouldn’t be a brilliant addition.
