Mariah Carey performs first-ever duet with daughter Monroe

With the holiday season just around the corner, it’s only fitting for the unofficial “Queen of Christmas” Mariah Carey to serenade us with her Christmas greetings. However, this holiday season could be a little different for Carey – who may have to share the limelight with her 11-year-old daughter Monroe Cannon.

The two surprised fans when they took the stage together to a packed house at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto last week. The two wore extravagant white robes and ornate tiaras.

This is my little girl, here. Eleven years ago I received the greatest gift. You know what, I don’t have birthdays but the birth day was the greatest gift ever when I had my twins Roc and Roe.

Carey then told fans that she and Monroe would sing the Christmas anthem “Away in a Manger” together.

This is our first duet… We worked on it for a minute.

Cannon watched her mother start the song with her high-pitched whistles. As Carey patted her daughter on the back, Cannon began singing the first verse of the anthem.

The crowd responded enthusiastically to Cannon’s singing. And Carey proudly basked in her daughter’s superstar moment, flashing a beaming smile.

Monroe has joined her mother on stage before

Monroe and her twin brother Moroccan shared the stage with their mother in 2017 when they were just six years old. Carey performed “Always Be My Baby” at the Hollywood Bowl, and although Monroe belted out a few notes, she was shy about singing in front of a large crowd.

After the 11-year-old’s last performance, we definitely think the shyness is gone.
