Mark Lawrenson says a Leeds player is not the standard of the Premier League

Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson discussed the defensive struggles of Liam Cooper and Leeds United.
Leeds has recently shocked in the back, there is no good way to say it. They have conceded 11 goals in two games and received a lot of criticism for their unbelievably open play.
However, Leeds’ defensive efforts are nothing new. They weren’t as bad as last season, but they still conceded a lot of goals, and Lawrenson believes the staff behind them let them down.
The pundit has identified Cooper as a player simply not good enough for the Premier League.

What does Lawrenson say about Cooper?
Lawrenson has criticized Leeds and Cooper’s defense.
“Leeds, as good as last year, they didn’t defend well. Look at people like Cooper, it’s too much for him at this level. He’s an excellent centre-back in the Championship, but not at this level. Goalkeepers have had a couple of bad days as well,” Lawrenson said.
Not the best
We don’t want to say it, but Lawrenson might be right about Cooper.
He’s improved a lot since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at Elland Road, but he’s still not good enough at this level.
He holds the ball neatly and he can read the game well enough, but he’s a little doubtful in the air and he’s not hard to beat with a little trickery.
He’s been a great waiter and a great captain for Leeds, but as Lawrenson puts it, Cooper doesn’t shine in the Premier League.
