Matt Hancock calls the vaccine czar ‘mad’ after she questioned the need to sting everyone in the UK

Matt Hancock described the former government’s vaccine czar as “insane” and “utterly unreliable” after she questioned the need to snitch the entire population, leaked WhatsApp messages reveal.
Dame Kate Bingham was responsible for overseeing Britain’s efforts to find and manufacture effective Covid-19 vaccines and in October 2020 she told the Financial Times that vaccinating the entire British population “would not happen”.
After receiving her comments from Damon Poole – Mr Hancock’s special media adviser – the former health secretary said: “We absolutely need No10 to sit hard on her,” reported the Telegraph.
He then described her, saying: “She’s got opinions and a crazy way of expressing them, and she’s totally unreliable. She regards anything that is not her idea as political interference.”
The revelation comes after Isabel Oakeshott – Mr Hancock’s ghostwriter for the book Pandemic Diaries – handed over more than 100,000 WhatsApp messages to the newspaper.

In leaked WhatsApp messages, Matt Hancock described the former government’s vaccine czar as “utterly unreliable”.

In June 2021 it was announced that Ms Bingham would be awarded a dame in recognition of her work leading the UK Vaccine Taskforce (VTF).
She was the unpaid chair of the taskforce for seven months before stepping down in December 2020 and replacing Dr. Clive Dix took over.
Mr Hancock’s leaked WhatsApp messages also revealed calls from staff of the former Health Secretary asking if they could “lock up” former UKIP leader “pub hooligan” Nigel Farage in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The leak has already revealed Rishi Sunak and Mr Hancock complaining about Dominic Cumming’s ‘nightmare’ tenure at Downing Street, as well as the then-Health Secretary’s repeated concerns that the then-Chancellor’s signature of the Eat Out To Help Out initiative was spreading contributed by Covid -19.
It has also been revealed that Mr Hancock’s desperate 41-hour struggle to try to salvage his career after photos were handed to The Sun revealing his affair with Gina Coladangelo, in which the couple were in breach of their own Social distancing rules kisses.
As more revelations surfaced, it was also noted that Mr Hancock had told aid workers he wanted to “scare everyone” to ensure compliance with Covid-19 restrictions.
The former health minister even debated when the government should “deploy” the new strain to scare the public.
It also noted that in January 2021, Cabinet Secretary Simon Case suggested that the “fear” factor would be “vital” in stopping the spread of the virus.
Mr Hancock has said in response to the leaked news that he was “deeply disappointed and saddened by the massive betrayal and breach of trust by Isabel Oakeshott”.
He also said: “There is absolutely no case of public interest for this major breach. All the materials for the book have already been made available to the inquiry, which is the right and only place for proper viewing and proper lessons to be learned.
“As we have seen, publishing them in this way gives a partial, biased account consistent with an anti-lockdown agenda.”
