The ex of a DWTS pro has nothing but wonderful things to say about his new girlfriend.

Dancing With the Stars star Cheryl Burke’s ex-husband has officially moved away. Matthew Lawrence has gone public with his new relationship after finding love again with Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of ’90s girl group TLC.

Lawrence and Thomas went Instagram official on December 31, 2022. And in a March 2023 interview, Lawrence opened up about his new romance, praising his girlfriend and calling her “special.”

“Life is always a surprise,” Lawrence said Entertainment Tonight. “My life is in full bloom right now. I’m hanging out with a great woman like Chilli. I’ve never been able to experience this type of relationship before, so it’s very special. She is a very, very special person. I wish more people on this planet were like her. We would be much better off,” she added.

“She just has her morals and her values,” Lawrence continued. “The way she treats her family. She loves my family, so important. We come. We’re going to talk on the phone and she says, ‘My mom is calling me.’ I say, ‘Get it. I know how important that is.” The same as my mother calls me. It’s not like ‘why are you talking to your mom?!’ It’s like, ‘Oh, your mother. Talk to your mom, you know?” he added.

Matthew Lawrence & Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas haven’t posted together on Instagram since 2022

When Lawrence and Thomas were first spotted hanging out together, they were quick to dismiss any rumors that they were anything more than friends. in August 2022, TMZ shared photos by Lawrence and Thomas hanging out in Hawaii. A rep for Thomas told the outlet that their relationship is platonic. However, four months later, the two announced that they were dating.

On March 1, 2023, TMZ caught the couple at the airport, and pictures of them hugging and kissing were uploaded. Thomas flew in from an undisclosed location and Lawrence picked her up, helping her with her bags – and letting her know how much she was missed.

The outlet caught up with Lawrence and Thomas a few days earlier and Lawrence was also speaking very highly of his girlfriend at the time. He admitted they “like to keep things private,” but said they would be coming out with a podcast soon.

Lawrence was married to Burke from 2019 to 2022.

“I know I’ve always said I’m an open book with you guys, I strive to be, and writing this I realized there really isn’t an easy way to announce the end of my marriage. I hope you understand that I will not comment further at this time and ask for your understanding and privacy. Thank you all for all the kind words and support you have given me,” Burke wrote in a statement shared on Instagram in February 2022.

According to Us WeeklyBurke cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Fans have reacted to Matthew Lawrence’s new relationship

Some fans were under the impression that Lawrence Burke cheated with Thomas, but the TLC singer was quick to call out people for “spreading lies.”

“Yes, cheating on your wife etc. is super awesome.” one person commented on Thomas’ Instagram post. Others commented on similar things, to which Thomas replied, “STOP the LIES please.”

Now, Dancing With the Stars fans seem to be supporting Lawrence and Thomas’ new relationship.

“They look happy. I’m looking forward to it then. I hope Cheryl finds peace one day.” one person commented in a Reddit thread about Lawrence and Thomas.

“They are so cute!! I was pretty shocked to hear they were dating but they are so cute together.” someone else added.

“They’re random, but I like it. I don’t know what happened to him and Cheryl though. A pity,” said a third.
