Maybe the New York Giants should be demoted from the NFL

Without the logos on their helmets, you might not recognize the New York Giants as a professional football team. For the second time this season, they were completely defeated by the Dallas Cowboys 49-17 and are now down to a paltry 2-8 record for the 2023 season. The G-Men find themselves in quarterback purgatory with an injured starter (Daniel Jones) and a replacement on Sunday (Tommy DeVito), who looks like he’ll be playing in the XFL in a few months. Unfortunately for the Giants, veteran QB Tyrod Taylor is also out due to a rib injury.
The only positive thing about this game for the Giants is that they actually scored. In Week 1, the Cowboys defeated them 40-0 at MetLife Stadium. This time in Big D, the Giants almost dropped a 50 burger on their dome piece. This is what can happen when you give a lot of money to the wrong player in the backfield. Paying Daniel Jones instead of Saquon Barkley has bothered the Giants all season and will likely continue to do so in the future.
At halftime, the Giants had been outscored 68-0 by the Cowboys in six quarters of play this year. It’s hard to believe that this was a playoff team just a year ago. Not only did they make the postseason, but the Giants traveled to Minnesota and upset the Vikings in the wild card round.
Now the G-Men hardly look like a team that belongs in the NFL. DeVito passed for 86 yards and two touchdowns late when the game was out of reach. Barkley averaged more than five yards per carry, but when you dig a hole that big, the only way to get out is to pass the ball.
It was no longer practical to play Barkley long after halftime.
This team needs more than a revamp. Jones and DeVito have to be shipped to an island and left there. Entering Week 10, New York was averaging 11.2 points per game, the lowest in the league. Scoring 17 points was an improvement, but all hope is lost.
The defense is being blamed just as much, if not more, than the offense after a second straight blowout. Last week, New York was beaten 30-6 by Las Vegas. The Raiders aren’t exactly one of the better teams in the league like Dallas. Brian Daboll has a reputation as a good offensive coach, and of course you need the best talent to win. But if he can’t make the team more competitive, at least in the future, his days as head coach could be numbered. Maybe Daboll should take Colin Cowherds Advice and resignation. Things aren’t getting any better in New York anytime soon.
