McDonald’s employees were ‘attacked over 900 times across the UK’ last year

McDonald’s fast-food chain employees faced more than 900 attacks last year.
A freedom of information request revealed workers at the 1,270 restaurants across the UK were strangled, beaten, kicked and attacked with chemical sprays.
And it’s not just employees who have been attacked. Customers have also been stabbed, beaten and bitten, with most incidents recorded at night.
Weapons used to carry out these vicious attacks include plastic knives, spoons and forks provided by McDonalds and even condiments like ketchup.
Figures suggest there are 17 attacks on employees and customers a week across the country.

However, the actual number is likely higher, as just over half of the police force provided the figures in the request.
According to the data, the most violent branch was in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, where 33 attacks took place in one year.
Cleveland Police confirmed a customer in Middlesbrough was stabbed in the arms and legs, and in Torquay, Devon, one customer bit another in the face.
MailOnline has reached out to McDonald’s for comment.
