As a young girl, the Grammy winner literally struggled to fit in.
In her last interview with CNBC, The singer spoke of having to wear body belts and skin-tight corsets to school. This shapewear naturally distorted her body, an experience that was extremely uncomfortable for her.
The star’s new line of shapewear aims to solve this problem for girls and women of all ages.
Meaning of Yitty revealed
Discussing the name of her brand, Lizzo revealed that it’s a childhood nickname given to her by her aunt.
“Yitty is a nickname my aunt gave me when I was young,” he said good as hell singer explained.
“She was a full figured woman and one of the coolest people ever with bold, beautiful energy. I wanted that energy in that brand.”
Yitty is one too popular traditional Jewish girl name. It means light in the Yiddish language.
The name is also used as diminutive of names Henriette and Henrietta in Old German.
Lizzo is launching a new line of shapewear called Fabletics
The new shapewear line marks Lizzo’s first venture outside of her music.
The clothes will be released next month and are said to feature lots of neon colors and bold prints. It will be available in sizes XS to 6X and the cost ranges from $14.95 to $69.95.
A press release from the brand indicates that the shapewear will come loose on April 12 of this year.
Introducing her brand Lizzo wrote on Instagram: “This is a dream that has been in the making for 5 years…. Introducing @YITTY, shapewear you can wear as underwear, outerwear, anywhere. For every damn body.”
“I started having fun creating different shapes, silhouettes and looks and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s actually not a bad thing if I don’t hurt my body,'” Lizzo recalls of the business idea.
