American Scottie Scheffler took the lead on the final day of the Masters but who is his wife Meredith as he nears glory in Augusta?

Over 54 holes in Augusta, Scheffler held a -9 including a three-shot lead over his pursuers.

The Texan is currently number 1 in the official world golf rankings and is chasing a first major.

His previous best was fourth place at the 2020 US PGA Championship.

It was a difficult start to the final round for Scheffler, however, as Cameron Smith reduced the deficit to one shot through two holes.

Scottie Scheffler’s wife Meredith

Scheffler, born in June 1996, first met future wife Meredith Scudder when they were both teenagers.

The first met at Highland Park High School before going on to different universities to further their studies.

Scheffler went to the University of Texas, while future wife Meredith attended University of Texas A&M instead.

After graduating in 2018, the two got engaged in the summer of 2020.

Scottie Scheffler and wife Meredith later married in 2020.

The couple have no children.

Scottie Scheffler has won a number of major events as a professional golfer.

He made his major debut at the 2016 US Open, missing the cut by just one shot after two rounds.

He enjoyed success at the Players Championship and WGC World Matchplay tournaments in 2022 and was part of the US team that won the Ryder Cup in Europe in 2021.

Scheffler also recorded the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
