Lawyer up. Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew could go to court soon if the Duchess of Sussex is asked to testify in the Duke of York’s sexual assault case.
In an interview with The Daily Beast on December 21, 2021, David Boies – the attorney representing Virginia Roberts Giuffre in a civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault by Prince Andrew when she was 17 – announced that Meghan (whose husband, Prince Harry, is Prince Andrew’s nephew) could be called to testify in his case.
“One; Boies said. “Two; she was someone who was clearly, at least for a time, a close associate of Prince Andrew and therefore probably saw what he did, and perhaps if not what he did when he heard people talk about it. Because of her past relationship with him, she most likely has important knowledge, and certainly will have some. ” He continued, “Three; She is someone we can trust to tell the truth. She checks all three boxes. ”
Boies also noted that other members of the British royal family, such as Prince Charles (Prince Andrew’s brother) and Sarah Ferguson (Prince Andrew’s ex-wife) may also be asked to testify for his character. “We will probably take a deposit or two from people close to Andrew who will know about his actions,” he said. “That could include his ex-wife. It could be his brother.” Boies, however, confirmed that Prince Andrew’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, would probably not be called when “out of respect and respect, and her age.”
In her case against Prince Andrew, Giuffre claims she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York three times between 1999 and 2002 in London, New York and on a private Caribbean island owned by Prince Andrew. Jeffrey Epstein, who died in August 2019 while in prison. about sex trafficking. In an interview with the BBC in 2019, Prince Andrew mentioned his relationship with Epstein and a photo of him with his arm around Giuffre. Based on EveryoneGiuffre’s stand against Prince Andrew (who has denied assault allegations) is ongoing, with the Duke of York’s team expected to contest their proposal to dismiss the case on January 4. 2021. The magazine also reports that Meghan’s representatives declined to comment on Giuffre’s attorneys who may be asking her to testify.
