Meghan Markle has decided to pull out of a lavish awards ceremony in LA following the death of the Queen last week.
Markle, 41, was scheduled to be celebrated on September 28 at a gala celebrating Variety’s new issue of Power of Women, where she would have joined Hillary and Chelsea in praising Clinton and speaking about the “tropes that hold women back.”
A source close to the awards ceremony said that “Meghan gracefully declined to attend after the death of Queen Elizabeth.”

Princes William and Harry were joined by their wives Catherine and Meghan as the ‘Fab Four’ welcomed the public on Saturday September 10
Offering a possible preview of her speech in the latest episode, she told actress Mindy Kaling that she was frustrated to be told “a million times” that she was lucky Prince Harry chose her when they got engaged.
“But luckily I have a partner who countered that narrative for me and said, ‘You’ve got it all wrong. I’m the lucky one because you chose me,” Markle said.
“But it’s gendered and it’s archetyped and stereotyped that you’re so lucky, and it just feeds into that idea that you’re waiting for someone to tell you you’re good enough instead of knowing you are.” good alone are enough.’
Meghan has turned down Variety’s award as she and Harry plot their return to the UK after nearly two years of savaging the royals from their new home in Montecito, California.
Indeed, they stunned the world by appearing alongside William and Kate at Windsor Castle to meet well-wishers and thank them for flowers on Saturday.

And on Wednesday night, they joined fellow royals for dinner at Buckingham Palace after the Queen’s coffin was laid out at the Palace of Westminster.
It’s the latest sign that the brothers have put their strained relationship aside to present a united front as the royal family mourns Her Majesty’s death.
