Aaron Carter’s fiancee Melanie Martin has accused his manager Taylor Helgeson of “enabling, overworking and using” the late star in a explosive Instagram post.
The singer was found dead in his bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California on November 5 at the age of 34 – along with his manager Taylor Helgeson gave a series of interviews about the star’s last words to him and his condition in his final days.
Martin, 35, the mother of Carter’s only son Prince, one, took to Instagram on Friday to claim Helgeson “had a hand in Aaron’s relapse” and urged him to get back on the road as he battled addiction fought.
Soon after, Helgeson issued a statement refuting “both”. [Martin’s actions and false statements’ while claiming Carter had distanced himself from Martin prior to his death.
Former child star Carter spent his life blighted by drug addiction. It was reported law enforcement found prescription pills and cans of compressed air in the bathroom where he died. He claimed he was nearly five years sober before his death.

Sharing a screenshot of an article in which Helgeson spoke about Carter, Martin wrote: ‘I haven’t spoke out but I feel the need to now. This man did nothing to help Aaron. He enabled him so much.
‘All he did was put a wedge between Aaron and I for the party to start. I was even thrown off the tour bus by this man!!
‘He tried to take over and brought him things that should have NEVER been brought to anyone. Let alone an addict.
‘I struggled with trying to keep a romantic and family relationship and a business relationship because I tried to keep enablers away

‘He overworked him when he was not well. He used him in life and now he’s still getting paid for interviews!
‘This man wanted to get Aaron’s career back but this wasn’t the time to do so. Aaron needed help and needed rehab to be sober before he could revive his career.
‘I am sick of people coming out of the woodwork now with false narratives to look like the hero.’
‘This man was no hero. He had a hand in his relapse. I tried to give this man the benefit of the doubt many times and he continuously disappointed me. Constantly using Aaron for clout and his belongings. You enabled him and tried to overwork him into something he was not.
‘I know I can’t bring back Aaron but I will always make sure the truth is spoken! I’ll protect Aaron for the rest of my life.
In his own statement, Helgeson fired back at Martin’s ‘false’ statements but confirmed that he had previously removed her from Carter’s tour bus after she displayed ‘extremely erratic behavior’ that became a safety issue.
‘Out of respect for the family, Aaron’s loved ones, and even Melanie we have not commented on her at any time,’ Helgeson began.
‘However, due to her recent actions, the most astounding of which are against the family of Aaron himself, we strongly feel the need to comment and condone both her actions and false statements.
‘Melanie was not and had not been with Aaron for some time prior to his passing, due to causing a domestically unsafe environment for both her and himself.
Claims: Martin, 35, who is the mother of Carter’s only son Prince, one, took to Instagram on Friday to claim Helgeson ‘had a hand in Aaron’s relapse’ and pushed him to go back on tour as he battled addiction
‘In regards to the tour incident it is true. Melanie was safely removed after displaying extremely erratic behavior including attempting to eject herself from the tour bus whilst it was moving down the freeway at an incredibly high rate of speed.
‘For her safety and the safety of the rest of the tour party I made the decision to remove her from the tour. I booked her a hotel, purchased her a plane ticket home and ensured she made it safely back where her family could look after her,’ he concluded.
This comes as Helgeson, who worked with Carter for eight months, told Page Six how cyber-bullying ‘really affected’ the star.
He said: ‘It was like a nightmare. It was nonstop. It was so relentless and, yeah, it did a number on him.
Discussing the star being heckled during a live show, he said: ‘It really affected him, and he didn’t let it show in the performance, but when he got off the stage, he was like, really sad. He wasn’t angry, he was sad.’
Helgeson said Carter was further upset by viewing social media reaction but could not stop himself from looking.
He added that Carter and his estranged brother Nick also had plans to meet to work on their relationship.
He said: ‘I know that they had plans … to get to get together, to forgive. I don’t know exactly when, but I know that they wanted to — that was the that was the idea.’
Helgeson previously told the publication Carter looked ‘thin, tired and physically frail’ in the final days before his tragic death.
Helgeson said he was concerned for his health when they met at a music studio two days before his death.
He said: ‘He looked thin. He was extremely tired. He just looked like he needed to be doing anything but working. He looked like he needed to be taking care of him.

Helgeson, who had been working with Carter for eight months, added: ‘He didn’t seem okay physically … [but] mentally he was more excited than I have seen him in months. He was very intelligent and he was very aware of what people wanted to see from him.’
The LA County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology results before revealing a cause of Carter’s death – but Helgeson doesn’t believe the star took his own life, saying he was “proud and had so much to do.”
The star’s manager says the couple discussed him going into an in-patient rehab program, which was met with opposition from Carter.
Fatherhood: He added that they viewed three months in Utah as “detoxing and formulating new physical habits” – with Carter saying he wants to focus on regaining custody of his one-year-old son Prince before he enters rehab
He added that they viewed three months in Utah as “detoxing and formulating new physical habits” – with Carter saying he wants to focus on regaining custody of his one-year-old son Prince before he goes to rehab.
Prince, who he shared with his on-off fiancé Melanie Martin, is cared for by Melanie’s mother.
Helgeson said in mid-2022 Carter said he hadn’t slept for “a couple of days” and was feeling “stressed out,” but after he fell asleep, he asked his manager to help him draft a will — which was never finalized.
Helgeson said a priority for him and the rest of his team is making sure Prince is taken care of – which is why posthumous projects like the star’s controversial memoir have been slammed.
Recently it was announced that Carter was cremated. Carter’s ashes are being held by his twin sister, Angel, according to TMZ, which obtained the singer’s death certificate. According to the document, it was his mother Jane who was the first to inform authorities of her son’s tragic death.
The death certificate does not state Carter’s cause of death.
Following the tragic death of her sibling, Angel paid her heartbreaking sentiment to her brother on Instagram.
“To my twin… I loved you beyond measure. You are greatly missed. My funny sweet Aaron I have so many memories of you and I and I promise to cherish them,” she wrote.
Angel continued, “I know you are at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and see you again.’
Carter’s brother, former Backstreet Boys member Nick, also wrote about his brother on social media.
:’Very grateful for the outpourings[ing] of love and support for my brother. A fundraising fund has been set up in his memory to benefit @onoursleevesofficial, a major children’s mental health charity that helps families across America,” Nick said.
The singer posted a link to the On Our Sleeves website where fans can donate.

Nick also said: “Thank you for choosing to celebrate the impact of Aaron Carter’s life with a gift of hope. By honoring Aaron, you are helping Nick, Angel and their family in their commitment to helping others.”
Carter was spotted by his housekeeper, known only as Betty, who had been living in the house for three weeks. The woman had been homeless and Carter and his girlfriend Melanie Martin asked to be taken care of after a friend’s mansion was broken into.
Carter said in an August interview that he’d been to rehab four times and “finally got it right.” But he returned to an outpatient program the following month to address his “triggers.”
At the time of his death, Carter was living with Melanie Martin, Prince’s mother.
Neighbors described the relationship as stormy and said they often heard the couple yell at each other and the police were called at least three times.
A neighbor told DailyMail.com that Carter would often lock Martin out of the house, leaving her to bang on the door and yell “let me in”.
The neighbor said that one day another resident knocked on Carter’s door and Melanie answered.
Tribute: Nick Carter wrote that despite their complicated relationship, his heart was broken, adding that his love for Aaron never faded
She was asked if they could turn the music down. Melanie said she would pass the information on to Aaron. Minutes later, Aaron banged on the neighbor’s door and started yelling at the neighbor, calling her ‘c**t and b***ch’.
Another person in the house asked Aaron to leave their property. The police were called and Aaron tried to tell the police that the neighbor had assaulted him. No arrests were made.
“Every neighbor has that ‘neighbor’ to deal with, he was that ‘neighbor’.” the man said.
Melanie showed up at the house after news of Carter’s death broke. She was seen sobbing and being comforted by Carter’s real estate agent, Christie Limpus-Hathaway.
She issued a statement, which read: “My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it will be a journey raising a son without a father. Please respect my family’s privacy as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love dearly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.’
Earlier this year, Carter filed for custody of their son and a petition for protection against Martin at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Los Angeles County.
In a court filing, he accused his ex of “emotional distress, anxiety, shoving and scratching” and claimed she used the threat of suicide to “emotionally” abuse him.
Melanie, 35, was spotted moving her belongings from Carter’s house last week.
The former child star had tried to sell the house but it was pulled from the market after his death.
Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter paid tribute to his younger brother Aaron after it was revealed Aaron was found dead in a bathtub at his home in California a day earlier at the age of 34
Carter died without leaving a will, meaning the state of the will determining who will inherit his fortune has been revealed.
It has since emerged that Carter texted Maxim model Sonya Cruz, 24, asking her to come to his house – even telling her he would pay for an Uber and drive her home himself. This news came hours before his death.
Cruz, who has appeared in international magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar and Maxim, responded that she would “speak tomorrow, after you get up.” She signed the message “xox” with a heart emoji.
“I regret not spending more time if he asked,” Cruz told DailyMail.com.
“I just had no idea something like this was going to happen and thought he would always be in my life,” she added.
“He was a complete angel and very kind. Rest in peace.’
In California, if the child dies intestate, the child usually inherits the estate of the single parent.
But sources said Carter was not in a strong financial position when he was found dead at his home on November 5.
The star had put his Lancaster home up for sale for around $800,000 in the weeks leading up to his death, but it has now been taken off the market.
If a sale goes through, Prince would likely have security in terms of the equity involved.
Sad: Carter said in an August interview that he’s been to rehab four times and “finally got it right”. But he returned to an outpatient program the following month to address his “triggers” (pictured February 2022).
