Melbourne BMW hits cyclist on Princess Highway after trying to disrupt traffic: watch dashcam video

Dashcam footage has captured the horrifying moment when a cyclist was thrown off his bike after a BMW cut a lane and crashed into him.
The 20-year-old cyclist was driving on the Princess Highway in south Melbourne in December last year when a silver BMW SUV attempted to turn left onto Springvale Road and hit him.
The footage, taken on December 18, 2022 but released Monday, came from the car’s dashcam directly behind the cyclist and captured the exact moment the cyclist was sent airborne.
The BMW pulled out of the left lane in the second as they attempted to dramatically overtake traffic and make a left turn from a forward lane.
The cyclist’s shoe flew with the bike after being hit by the rear of the vehicle.

The BMW driver continued down Springvale Road towards town but eventually stopped to go back and check on the fallen driver who had spread out in the middle of the busy intersection.
The dashcam driver immediately stopped to check on the driver, who was trying to sit up and reorient himself in footage released by Dashcam Owners Australia.
Victoria Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the BMW driver, a 66-year-old woman from Glen Huntly, was investigated by police and fined for failing to swerve.
The male cyclist, a man from Croydon South, was taken to hospital for observation.
