Michael Dawson says he was ‘devastated’ as Spurs sold ‘incredible player’

Speaking of Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channelMichael Dawson has discussed some of his former Tottenham team-mates and he has chatted about Luka Modric.
Modric, of course, burst onto the world stage in a Tottenham shirt and played exceptional football for the north London team before eventually securing a move to Real Madrid where he cemented himself as a legend.
Modric is still one of the best midfielders in the world at the age of 36 and Dawson is impressed by the Croatian and his career.
While Dawson respects Modric’s career decisions, he admits he was absolutely devastated when he initially left Spurs.

Dawson spoke about Modric.
“Still in it at 36? Unusual. I was sad to see him go, you are now sitting here as an ambassador for this club. He’s accomplished everything, he’s played for Real Madrid, won the Champions League and everything over there. As fans it can be hard to watch but as a player I was devastated to see him leave. He left us vulnerable because we lost an incredible player and I can only speak highly of him,” said Dawson.
The Missing Piece
Modric leaving Spurs feels like ages ago but imagine if he stayed at the club.
Tottenham really could have been a European force with Modric in midfield instead of someone like Victor Wanyama, Moussa Sissoko or Eric Dier.
Imagine if Modric had been paired with a top-notch Mousa Dembele at Spurs, that pairing would have run every single game they started together and while it’s hypothetical it’s hard to believe that Spurs could have matched Modric in this one team would not have won a great honor.
Unfortunately, the bright lights of Madrid are too tempting for a player to turn down and Modric has embarked on a career he probably couldn’t have even dreamed of.
