Michael Owen has claimed Thiago was ‘questioned’ at Liverpool until a couple of weeks ago.
The former striker added that the 31-year-old is now “a delight to watch” and has been “absolutely brilliant” for Liverpool lately.
Owen’s comments are unlikely to go down well with Liverpool supporters but Thiago has been at it for a lot longer than he thinks.
He’s high as a possible contender for Liverpool’s player of the year and if he works his magic even more as the Reds chase four trophies, he could elevate his status even more.
However, that’s the controversial claim Owen made about Thiago and the alleged questions about him up until a few weeks ago. as he told Premier League Productions (24/04/22 at 16:25).
“He was a bit of a slow starter,” Owen said. “A lot of people have wondered if his style of football could fit into this Liverpool team.
“These questions really lingered until a few weeks ago. In the last couple of games he’s played he’s been absolutely brilliant. Knit everything together.
“He’s a pleasure to watch because when you play the game, he’s different. He has this ruse. His disguise in passing is second to none. You can literally go to the stadium and watch him and enjoy watching him alone.”
It is noteworthy that Jurgen Klopp put Liverpool in such a situation that they are looking for all four trophies.
Even if it doesn’t happen, going into May and still having a chance to win it all is pretty amazing.
The League Cup is already in the bag, of course, and the truth is that many on Merseyside will be disappointed if the Reds don’t add another.
But the four-time chasing side has far too many proven winners among their ranks not to add several trophies to their cabinet before the season is over.
