The Rock the Block judges think Michel Boyd and Anthony Elle’s design limits their buyer base

After two episodes of “Rock the Block,” Boyd and Elle have received similar reviews for their kitchen and living room spaces.

In the first episode, guest judges Jenny and Dave Marrs (of “Fixer to Fabulous”) said they loved the team’s choices for a kitchen range and textured hardware in the cabinets. They also loved the two-story china island, especially as using china saved money without sacrificing style. One downside for the judges was the limited pool of buyers, with Jenny Marrs saying, “I think you’re designing for a specific buyer. It wouldn’t work really well for a family, but it feels luxurious.”

Boyd mentioned in the premiere that he and Elle “wanted to honor Colorado [where the competition is taking place]but also bring in our more modern POV, and our house is designed for empty nesters.

In the second episode, judges Mina Starsiak Hawk (of “Good Bones”) and Jenn Todryk (of “No Demo Reno”) had similar criticism, with Hawk telling Boyd and Elle that their bathroom gave off “sexy bachelor man vibes,” however she added, “My only concern is that you may have narrowed your buyer pool a bit.”

Boyd and Elle didn’t win either of the first two weekly challenges, but many followers did encourage them in the comments section of Elle’s most recent post, with one follower writing, “As someone who works in real estate and design in Colorado…please don’t stop.” these judges. Your home is exactly what luxury buyers are looking for in this area! ❤️”

“This is particularly luxury ✨️ particularly beautiful !!!” added another follower.

Boyd and Elle also have a fan of Rock the Block host Ty Pennington, who spoke to Heavy ahead of this new season and shared that they were one of the teams that surprised him the most.

“These guys were creative, I was blown away, they just have incredible ideas. When it comes to design we all want to be surprised,” Pennington told Heavy, “It’s the little clever things, whether it’s a closet door that turns into a secret room or something that turns into another piece of furniture leaves.”
