Microsoft is working on a number of new features for its Team Room devices, a dedicated video conferencing solution for professional meeting room configurations. This release is intended to tailor the experience with the Microsoft Teams desktop app and it only targets select Team Room device on Windows such as Surface Hub.
First of all, Microsoft is Introducing the new Meet now feature will replace the existing meeting controls on the Teams room dashboard. As the name suggests, the Meet now option will allow users to create special meetings instantly with just a few clicks and invite other participants to join them. However, this change only applies to Team Room devices running in “Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Teams (default) and Skype for Business only” mode.
In addition to Meet now support, the new Calling experience is already available for desktop users Will also be come to Group Room devices. The updated Calling app will replace the dedicated numeric keypad control on the Team Room control panel, allowing users to make PSTN, one-on-one, and group calls.
These improvements will begin rolling out to all Microsoft Teams Rooms devices in January 2022, following the Microsoft 365 roadmap. In case you missed it, Microsoft also plan to bring multi-camera support for Team Room devices later this month.
