Mirror’s Edge and Onrush are among the EA games that are about to shut down their servers

Electronic Arts will shut down online services for several games over the next year, including Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, Gatling Gears, and Shank 2.
First discovered by True achievements, the exact date for the server shutdowns for these games is January 19, 2023. There are two achievements that will be affected by the server closure in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, namely Arena Noob and Arena Vet, for which players will have a must earn or ten arena medals. Mirror’s Edge, Gatling Gears and Shank 2 do not have any achievements that require online access, so it will be possible to unlock them after shutting down.
EA will also be shutting down other online servers this year, including servers for several Command & Conquer games on November 9th and Onrush on November 30th. EA recently updated its list of service updates to include the following:
October 20, 2022
- Army of Two: The 40th Day
- Army of Two of the Devil Cartel
- Dragon Age: Origins (Multiplayer Screenshots Server)
November 9, 2022
- Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
- Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
- Command & Conquer 3: Wrath of Kane
- Mercenaries 2: World on Fire
November 30, 2022
January 19, 2023
- mirror edge
- NBA Jam: On Fire Edition
- Gatling gearbox
- shank 2
Other companies besides EA have also shut down servers for old games, like Ubisoft with its older Assassin’s Creed games earlier this month.
The most famous of these games, Mirror’s Edge, was first released in 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It came to PC in 2009. A reboot of the game, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, was released in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Unfortunately, there were no words about new entries in the franchise. Last year, EA France posted something about Mirror’s Edge, possibly hinting at a new game, but later clarified that it wasn’t a nod to anything.
