More on the earlier legal battle between Mo’Nique and Netflix
Accordingly Ok playerMo’Nique filed a gender and racial discrimination lawsuit against the company in 2019. The legal action was reportedly taken because the comedian believed the company had made her a “lowball offer” in 2017.
Mo’Nique further explained that the company offered her $500,000 for an hour-long standup special. Unlike other comedians like Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and others who reportedly earned larger amounts for their Netflix specials.
As previously reported by The Shade Room, the comedian shared a brief statement when announcing the lawsuit.
I can confirm that I filed a wage discrimination lawsuit against Netflix today. I had a choice: I could accept what I saw as wage discrimination, or I could stand up for those who came before me and for those who will come after me. I decided to get up.
Accordingly vulturethe lawsuit was settled between the parties in 2022 due to “undisclosed terms.”
