Five Montgomery Fire Rescue units battled a house fire in Capitol City Sunday morning. Just before 10 a.m., emergency crews responded to the 1600 block of West Street. When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from a one-story home. Emergency services found the fire and extinguished it. A resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, however the individual refused further treatment and did not wish to be transported to a local hospital. There were no further reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
