“He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in stable condition.”

His brother Mostafa sparked one of Australia’s biggest manhunts last year.

He was hidden on the Queensland-NSW border in November while trying to evade capture after weeks on the run.

His dramatic arrest last year was the culmination of a week-long search after he allegedly removed an ankle monitor and was on the run.

Police allege Baluch was involved with an organized crime syndicate conspiring to import and distribute three tons of cocaine that could have a potential value of $900 million.

With the help of US authorities, 1,770 kilograms of cocaine were seized from ships off the coast of Ecuador in October 2020 and April 2021.

So far, five men have been charged with their alleged involvement in the syndicate.

His brother is not involved in the alleged importation or charged with any crime.
