Motorists warned that further construction sites are on the way at a busy intersection
St Helens Council has confirmed that “essential roadworks” are being carried out at the A570 Boundary Road/Kirkland Street/Lingholme Road junction.
Local authorities said the resurfacing work is due to start on Thursday February 16 “with an estimated duration of two weeks”.

The following restrictions apply:
- Boundary Road will be closed to through traffic from Harris Street to Peter Street for a week on Sunday 19th February.
- Lingholme Road will be closed to through traffic for one day on Sunday 19 February at the Boundary Road junction, but will remain open to traffic from Kirkland Street at all other times.
- Harris Street at its intersection with Boundary Road and Albion Street at its intersection with Kirkland Street will be closed “as necessary throughout the duration of the work”.
In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the council said a “full diversion route will be in place for any road closures and marked accordingly”.
It added: “Temporary three-way traffic lights will operate as needed throughout the duration of the work.
“Sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
The intersection has been named an accident black spot by Star readers due to the number of accidents there.
