Moussa Sissoko responds on Instagram when asked about Tottenham player’s lack of pace

Moussa Sissoko responded on Instagram when asked about Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s lack of pace. The Danish star played alongside Sissoko during the 2020-21 season at Spurs, under Jose Mourinho.
Sissoko, now captain of Watford, made 61 appearances during his 18-month spell under Mourinho as Spurs manager. In many cases, the France international was used in midfield with Hojbjerg, Mourinho’s signing.
But as the summer passed, Sissoko left Spurs after five years and 202 appearances for the North London club – joining Watford. The former Newcastle man has since proven to be an important part of Claudio Ranieri’s side.
Sissoko held a Q&A session on his Instagram story, on Tuesday night, and one of the questions he was asked was Hojbjerg noticing his lack of speed. He answered, by asking the man himself.
Sissoko on Hojbjerg: Does the Tottenham man really lack pace?
Or perhaps more importantly, did the apparent lack of pace really matter in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system? Arguably not. All Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp – or Harry Winks – needed to do was work hard and keep running.
The Rise and Fall of José Mourinho
They need to be box-to-box midfielders, like a hunting dog. Flexible, intelligent defense but also very dedicated in attack. Hojbjerg has done that to some extent, with five goals this season.
Yes, he can be faster and that’s obvious – but he’s better equipped to play in the midfield under Conte than most.
