MSNBC’s Reid amused by GOP Rap – ‘So jealous of the culture’

MSNBC host Joy Reid burst out laughing on her show “The ReidOut” on Friday after playing a rap video praising Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
After playing a clip from the video, Reid said, laughing out loud, “I’m so sorry! I am sorry! Ok, so he is – help me!”
Contributing writer at The Atlantic, Tom Nichols, replied, “This is going to make me want to listen to Led Zeppelin again.”
Laughing, Reid said, “Why are you doing that, Tom? Who is this supposed to be played to? The people in the video look so confused!”
Nichols replied, “You know, Donald Trump has been a staple of a lot of hip hop and rap music in the past. And you know, maybe it’s just guys trying to be transgressive and cool. And to say, ‘Who is the most absurd loser we can write a song about?’”
Reid asked, “Is that why hip hop is dead?”
Political scientist Juanita Tolliver replied, “For these people.”
She continued, “I’ll be honest Joy. Aside from that clip, I managed to get about 10 more seconds. When the producer sent me this link, I didn’t get very far. I think that’s a joke, right?”
Reid concluded, “My producer is standing right here in case I fall. I laughed so hard today my eyelashes almost fell off. These people are so jealous of the culture they like. We’re going to get into the culture. We’re going to do a rap video about Matt Gaetz.”
