Mystic Meg changed my life forever: truck driver says lottery advice landed him £15m jackpot

A former truck driver’s life was changed forever after he followed an astrologer’s advice that netted him £15million from a lottery jackpot win.

Tom Naylor and his wife Rita followed the advice of Mystic Meg in 2001, who they claim changed their lives forever as he now owns a luxury car for every day of the week.

At the time it was the sixth largest jackpot in the competition and they claim that the astrologer, who died yesterday aged 80, played a big part in their win.

Margaret Lane, known professionally as Mystic Meg, told Tom’s Gemini zodiac sign to keep their lottery tickets in a yellow cup.

The 67-year-old didn’t own a yellow cup, but kept it between the yellow pages of his card book – he later won millions with the same ticket.

Tom told The Sun: “We are so sad. She was wonderful.

“We still read Mystic Meg’s stars in The Sun every day and we are proof that her predictions are coming true.

“Yellow is a Gemini color and it was a very good day for Gemini because Mercury was very active.

“I’ve always followed Meg’s advice. I didn’t have a yellow mug in my cab, but the pages of my ticket book were yellow, so I put my ticket in instead.”

He earned from £1,000 a month working 12-hour shifts for a transport company on a daily interest basis.

Tom, who used to own a 20-year-old Ford Granada, has spent more than £750,000 on luxury engines including a Rolls Royce, Jaguars and a Land Rover Discovery.

According to The Sun, he has built six garages and owns a car for each day of the week.

The first car he bought with his winnings 17 years ago was a jet black Jaguar XJR, which he still owns to this day.

The former truck driver paid £150,000 for the high-end sedan and it can hit 60mpg in 7.6 seconds.

The pair also paid £47,630 for a fire red Mustang V8 that has a top speed of 162mph.

Their most expensive engine is a green Jaguar XJ220 worth £500,000. It can reach a top speed of 214mph and there are only 15 left in the UK.

The couple also own a silver Jaguar F-Type convertible for sunnier days.

Tom was also invited by Aston Martin to own a limited edition DB9 Bond Edition that comes complete in obsidian black leather with carbon fiber trim throughout.

Only 150 were made and he paid £170,000.

His first Aston Martin was the regular DB9, for which he paid £150,000.

Finally, one of Tom’s most recent purchases, which he nicknamed “the shopping cart,” is a Land Rover Discovery.

Tom bought the winning ticket from the Frankley Service Station in Birmingham after he and his friend worked out the numbers based on their birthdays and house numbers.

The couple swapped their £50,000 three-bedroom semi-detached house in Wednesbury, West Midlands, for a £480,000 luxury barn conversion with two acres of land in the picturesque village of Wheaton Aston, Staffordshire.

But it hasn’t always been a walk in the park for the couple, as nine years ago they were locked in a turf war with their neighbors over a tiny strip of grass less than a meter wide.

The legendary astrologer, who died Thursday morning aged 80 after a short illness, grew up in a terraced house in Accrington where she was tutored in astrology by her Russian gypsy grandmother.

She never married after her partner and heir to the Littlewoods football and retail empire, Nigel Moores, died in a horrific accident in the south of France in 1977.

It was a cruel twist of fate after Meg, at the age of seven, read a horoscope that predicted she would be engaged to a wealthy man. Mr Moores was worth £9million when he died aged 39.

In the fatal accident, Mr Moores was thrown from the passenger side of a Land Rover as the vehicle somersaulted and burst into flames on a road near Marseille.

He had been a keen motorsport enthusiast but felt he needed to hide it from certain members of his family who disapproved of the sport.

Mr Moores was the son of Cecil Moores who, with his brother Sir John Moores, founded the Littlewoods and Football Pools empire.

The final reading for Meg, who is a Leo, published on the day of her death reads, “It can be the most routine of routine journeys that takes you to your soulmate — and you might not realize it right away.”
