Ex-UFC superstar Nate Diaz hit back at Daniel Cormier for his recent comments blasting Tony Ferguson.

Diaz faced Ferguson in the final fight of his contract at UFC 279. He was originally scheduled to face welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev but was paired with Ferguson after “Borz” became overweight and missed the agreed weight limit by seven and a half pounds. Diaz secured an impressive finish over ‘El Cucuy’ with a guillotine choke submission in the fourth round.

Ferguson faltered in his pro career, which resulted in him losing his fifth straight match after a dominant 12-fight win streak.

After Diaz’s victory, former two-division champion Cormier criticized Ferguson for his performance in a recent appearance DC & RC. He argued that it was time for him to hang up the gloves because he was past his prime.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Cormier said via MMA fights. “I’m not saying it was the worst fight ever, not in the slightest. It tells me Nate Diaz still has something in the tank if he wants to fight, but it also tells me Tony Ferguson is done as a guy I saw in the octagon. Tony Ferguson is done, bro. He is a shell of himself and does not want to withdraw. He actually said he feels like he’s getting better, he’s seen some good things. I wonder what he did in there to show he’s better than before?

Diaz shot Cormier for disrespecting Ferguson

Diaz took to his Twitter on September 23 to fire back at Cormier for his comments about Ferguson. Write“Respect your OG you fat motherfucker.” His message included a picture of “DC” crying after his loss to Jon Jones at UFC 214 in July 2017.

Cormier came across Diaz’s tweet and didn’t take long to offer his opinion on the matter. react: “Nathan relax.”

Ferguson gave Cormier a fiery reply

Ferguson didn’t take too well to Cormier’s suggestion that he retire. He referenced the infamous “Towel Gate” incident, in which Cormier appeared to be holding the towel to gain weight for UFC 210, and insisted he had no plans to stop the competition anytime soon.

“If I feel like I can retire, I will retire,” Ferguson said ESPN. “But right now it’s a little bit different, a little bit more interesting. DC and all these commenters who’ve been repeating the same shit over and over for the last few years – because that’s what they want me to do. They want the public to see me like that and they want me to be seen as a quitter and so on and so on.

“I’ve never cheated to get on the scale to keep my championship like DC – hashtag ‘Towel Gate’ – these guys grab the towel and try to lift a few pounds off the scale. The UFC (was) right there – they called. It’s like an inside job. This guy wants to call it out, I’ll call you right back. You don’t have to be an asshole to people who work really hard.” Nate Diaz hits back at “Fat Motherf**ker” Daniel Cormier in defense of UFC “OG”
