Former NBA All-Star and Seattle SuperSonics player Shawn Travis Kemp, 53, was jailed Wednesday for drive-by shooting, according to records in Pierce County, Washington.

Details match an incident at the Tacoma Mall that the Tacoma Police Department announced the same day. They arrested a 53-year-old person for a drive-by shooting but did not identify the person.

“We don’t identify suspects who we arrest,” Wendy Haddow, the police public information officer, told Law&Crime in an email.

The incident at the Tacoma Mall happened at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, officials wrote on social media.

“At 1:58 p.m., officers were responding to reports of shots being fired in the Tacoma Mall parking lot on the 4500 block of S. Steele St.,” the officers wrote on Facebook. “No injuries were reported.”

Police found that “an altercation between two parties in vehicles had taken place.”

One of the drivers opened fire on the people in the other car. The victim’s vehicle then drove away.

Police said they found the man involved and arrested him without incident. They also claimed to have found a gun.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the police said. “Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers.”

A bystander captured video after the Tacoma shooting. It shows a man in a red jacket addressing another man who got into a vehicle and drove away, as seen in footage provided to Q13.

Video later showed the man in red with the police, hands behind his back.
