What the heck is the Shmunguss category on Netflix?
In early March 2023, a popular TikTok profile called @channel.everything published interesting footage of them scrolling through Netflix one day. The user and his girlfriend were reportedly reviewing the streaming service when they came across the Shmunguss category. With TikTok, the user loudly questions the existence of the category and wonders what it might contain. Her friend suggests it showed up because they were on a VPN.
“A VPN in what, another dimension!?” they answer.
The category itself is reportedly filled with movies and shows that simply contain the word “Shmunguss.” For example content like The Shmunguss King, I married a Shmunguss, And In Shmunguss we trust. In fact, TikTok even allows the in-app trailer for a short time Shmunguss’ revenge to play, in which a hoarse voice ominously declares, “They stole my Shmunguss,” much to the couple’s shock.
