New Hampshire GOP state representative ARRESTED after attacking snowplow driver for blocking his drive

It may have been freezing outside, but a New Hampshire state official was furious after a snowplow driver blocked Jeffrey Greeson’s driveway.

Greeson, 51, of Wentworth, was apoplectic and saw nothing but red on a day when the road behind his driveway was all white after several inches of snowfall in the state.

In video footage captured by the plough’s driver, Paul Manson of the Wentworth Highway Department, Greeson can be seen cartoonistically shaking his fists while releasing steam into the sub-zero air.

“Now get in your truck and do your work! And you don’t put it in my driveway!’ Greeson screamed. ‘Push it over there, out the street, over there!’ he said, referring to a pile of snow the driver was dealing with.

The incident happened last Saturday when Greeson angrily stomped around in a loud and aggressive tirade and confronted snow plow driver Paul Manson

“It’s overwhelming for me. It took me a few days to calm down and figure out exactly what happened,” Manson said Friday. “I was trying to do my job. I was embarrassed to let someone be treated like that.”

The tirade appeared to last several minutes as he appeared to follow the plow driver around his driveway, angrily stomping through several feet of snow while barking instructions while yelling and cursing where to put the snow.

“My driveway ends here, right here. Push it off the street!’ yelled Greeson, who also used crude hand gestures and expletives.

“Your job is to clear the street. Drive free! Now get in your truck and do your work!’

The storm dropped nearly a foot of snow before weakening later in the day.

At one point, Greeson seemed to lose his balance as the thick snow made it difficult for him to chase after Manson. He then seemed to lose all perspective and stood directly in front of the snowplow, refusing to move and trying to stop Manson from filming him.

Greeson, a retired Navy officer and pastor serving his second term at the home, was arrested by state police on Friday and charged with disorderly conduct, criminal threats and simple assault.

It appeared he was still seething after being confronted by reporters asking for comment on his hotheaded actions.

On Thursday, Greeson was still stomping around in a blue tie adorned with white doves, but perhaps uncharacteristically opting to freeze the press and refusing to comment on his icy tirade on camera.

Greeson issued a written statement acknowledging the incident and claimed he apologized to Manson and the two walked away from it.

“I apologized to the man. He accepted my apology. That was a few days ago and we both moved on,” Greeson wrote.

Manson said he had already been plowing for about six hours on Saturday when he ran into Greeson standing in the middle of the road around 8 a.m.

“He just started giving me hell and I didn’t know what was going on,” he said Thursday. “As soon as I got out of the truck, he started yelling in my face. So I got back in the truck and got my cell phone.

“He was upset because I didn’t push the snow far enough off the road, and I put everything in his driveway, and I’ll be honest with you, that’s what I do,” Manson said.

“My job is to clear the snow off the road. And I feel bad most of the time because I’m putting snow down people’s driveways again, and I really can’t help it.’

Manson said he realizes it’s no fun shoveling after a snowplow has passed, but that officers don’t deserve to be attacked.

“I can go home when I’m done with my 15-, 16-, 18-hour shifts and do the same thing,” Manson said.

Manson first reported the incident to state police on the day it happened, expressing his relief and delight upon hearing of Greeson’s arrest and stating that the representative should be held accountable for his actions like any other citizen.

Democratic House Speaker Matt Wilhelm released a statement calling the charges against Greeson “serious and deeply disturbing.”

“The relationship between an elected official and his constituents is one of sacred trust. I hope Rep. Greeson will do some soul searching over the weekend as he considers the next steps for himself and the community he serves,” Wilhelm wrote.

Greeson was released on personal credit and was ordered back to Plymouth District Court in May to answer the charges against him. By then the snow will have melted and hopefully cooler heads will prevail.
