According to UOL Esporte, Newcastle United recently offered £35m for Leeds United star Raphinha.
The Magpies are seemingly huge admirers of the winger, and are said to be with Leeds resigned To lose him in the summer, an agreement can certainly be reached.
Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest but with Newcastle’s vast newfound wealth we really can’t write off the idea of Raphinha rocking at St James’ Park and if he did he would form alongside Allan Saint-Maximin one of England’s most fearsome wing duos.
Indeed, Saint-Maxmin and Raphinha would complement each other beautifully.
They’re both reverse wingers who love to cut and shoot inside, and they’re both incredibly quick and skilled.
Newcastle fans know all about Saint-Maximin, the Frenchman is the definition of a human highlight reel, but Raphinha is one of the few Premier League players who can rival him.
When these two are united in the same team, the Premier League defense quite simply will not be able to cope.
Of course, there’s a lot to be said for having too many dribblers on the team, and while Saint-Maximin could be described as a luxury player, the same cannot be said for Raphinha.
The Brazilian comes straight out of the Marcelo Bielsa school of thought and that means he works incredibly hard and even in one of the hardest working teams in the Premier League he’s one of the Whites’ most determined runners.
An analysis out LeedsLive earlier this year perfectly sums up how hard Raphinha works.
“This season, according to Opta, only two Leeds United players have registered 30 or more sprints in a single game: Jack Harrison and Raphinha,” according to the outlet wrote.
“Raphinha has done it three times now, against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. This is anything but a coincidence, the winger clearly leads the way when it comes to giving everything.”
While Saint-Maximin may be a pure showboater, Raphinha combines skill and tricks with incredible dedication, and that means he would complement Saint-Maximin perfectly.
If Raphinha joins Newcastle, he and Saint-Maximin could even face competition from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
