Newcastle have spotted a £30m striker two years after Celtic pulled out of a £6m move

Newcastle United have located Amine Gouiri ahead of a possible bid to sign the Nice striker this summer despite facing competition from Arsenal.
Newcastle raided the French market in January to secure Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes.
The move has proven to be an absolute masterstroke as Guimaraes quickly became a fan favorite at Newcastle.
It’s hard to fault Newcastle for returning to the French market this summer.
Hugo Ekitike continues to be linked with Newcastle but it could be another striker to leave Ligue 1 for St James’ Park.

Newcastle United have spotted Amine Gouiri
Newcastle are now eyeing NIce striker Gouiri and actually scouted him ahead of a potential offer earlier this month.
It is suggested that a member of Howe’s coaching staff traveled to Nice to see Gouiri in action.
Nice reportedly wants around £30m for Gouiri, a fee that has Celtic wondering what could have been.
Back in the summer of 2020, Le Progres in France reported that Celtic had tried to sign Gouiri from Lyon.
However, Celtic backed away from a deal as they felt the £6million transfer demand was a little too expensive.
Fast forward two years and it looks like Gouiri could be on the road for five times that fee if clubs queue up.
Newcastle are delighted but the report notes Arsenal and even Real Madrid are also interested in Gouiri.
22-year-old Gouiri has recorded 10 goals and nine assists in 38 Ligue 1 games for Nice this season.
Able to play both up and down the left, Gouiri has shown himself to be quick, skilful and creative, as well as a threat in goal himself.
That will make Gouiri very attractive and with Newcastle looking for another goalscoring option to help Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, the Frenchman could be their man.
