Newcastle & Leeds will miss out as the £9m target agree to join the French side

Corresponding RMC SportsMoses Simon has agreed personal terms with OGC Nice despite interest from Newcastle and Leeds.

What’s the matter?

Well, it has been said that Leeds were keen to get the £9million into the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Newcastle had even entered talks with Nantes over a deal for Simon.

Now, however, both Eddie Howe and Jesse Marsch appear to be without the Nigeria international, who has agreed to leave Ligue 1 to stay with OGC Nice in France.

Simon deserves his move after an impressive 2021/22 season in which he scored one goal six goals in 34 Appearances while also provide eight helps.

Interest from Leeds dates back to when Marcelo Bielsa was still in charge at Elland Road, so the Yorkshire board members are clearly big fans of the 26-year-old.

Late shocks aside, the Whites – and the Magpies – appear to have sadly lost.

Newcastle will be more upset than Leeds

We think Newcastle will be hit harder by the news than Leeds.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were said to have made Simon their No 1 target this summer after Newcastle’s Saudi Arabian possession also tried to bring the Nigerian to Al-Nassr.

Therefore, missing out will be a big blow.

However, there are alternatives for the magpies.

Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby is also said to be a target, while Newcastle have been credited with an interest in Raphinha, although the Leeds man is now on the verge of a move to Chelsea.

Another Leeds striker, Jack Harrison, is also in Newcastle’s sights.

In fact, it has been said that talks between the two parties have already begun.

Still, there are plenty of other wingers on the market this summer and Newcastle have the means to afford just about anyone they want, so all is not doom and gloom on Tyneside.
