Homme Du Match claim Newcastle and West Ham sent scouts Headed to Brazil this summer to watch two players in particular – in the form of Sao Paulo’s Igor Gomes and Palmeira’s midfielder Danilo.
Gomes, 23, is an attacking midfielder but can play anywhere in midfield – as an anchor, box-to-box, as a 10 or winger. He is nicknamed ‘new Kaka’, a player Tottenham were looking to sign last summer.
The other is Danilo. A slightly better known name given to him has been linked with a move to England this summer and has been called up by Brazil. At 21, he has already played 112 times for Palmeiras in defensive midfield.
Both West Ham and Arsenal are reportedly interested in the £21m-valued star. He has a contract with Brazil’s Serie A side until December 2026 – which means Palmeiras can keep him for some time.
Newcastle and West Ham have sent scouts to Brazil
Both players look like exceptional talents. Gomes’ versatility is a valuable asset and would be an excellent addition to most Premier League clubs – certainly those not yet in European competition.
Danilo is now a top talent. Arsenal sporting director Edu is known for his knowledge of Brazilian football and if he’s keen to sign the midfielder then he clearly believes he’s ready for the Premier League.
Time will tell if the scouts sent on by West Ham or Newcastle will result in either club making bids. But chances are the scout report they’ve produced on either player will be glowing.
