Newton-le-Willows woman sets up ‘Just Giving’ page to save her dog

A WOMAN suffering from a painful condition is raising money for her dog’s much-needed surgery.

Louise Juwel, from Crow Lane West, Newton-le-Willows, has severe nerve damage in her legs and bowel and cervical problems which will also require surgery this year and her beloved pet Shelby has been there for her throughout her illness.

But now a tumor was found on Shelby, who had to operate on the dog.

Louise has now launched a fundraiser to ensure Shelby receives vital treatment.

Louise said: “She keeps me from feeling worthless, drapes over my legs when I’m in pain and cuddles me when I’m crying in pain.

“She just knows I need her as much as she needs me. She was there for me every second of the day of my illness, no matter how bad I was, since she couldn’t walk down the stairs by herself, she was right next to me by my side.

“We never expected or even considered asking, but our girl is doing poorly. A few know that Shelby has been miserable for a while, and she is my whole world.

“Shelby needs surgery to remove a tumor growing in her esophagus; it is a very invasive operation and although we have some money it will not cover everything.

“She’s had insurance since we picked her up and brought her home seven years ago, but her insurance doesn’t cover everything anymore.”

Louise and her partner Vincent Towler are known in the community for their extravagant Halloween decorations, with their latest Stranger Things set being a huge hit for the couple.

The couple regularly raise funds for other charities and causes, but Louise and Vincent are now the ones in need of donations.

The 32-year-old added: “For years we’ve gone out of our way to help friends, family and strangers, make donations to charity and help the homeless almost every year, but this time we just need your help.

“Everything is so appreciated from the bottom of my heart.”
