Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan had to miss the season two premiere of the show thanks to “Miss Rona,” but she still looked red-carpet-ready at home.
Corona strikes again – Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan announced on Tuesday (March 22, 2022) ahead of the Season 2 premiere that she had tested positive for Covid-19.
The show was undoubtedly one of the most popular Netflix series of 2021 due to the scandalous storylines and fast-paced scenes between Daphne Bridgerton and Duke Simon Basset that we would never expect from the Regency-era upper class.
Coughlan wasn’t the only leading lady absent from the highly anticipated event; Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton) was also conspicuously absent from the green carpet.
Covid won’t stop the glam
The 35-year-old plays Penelope Featherington, the youngest Featherington daughter and the only considerate sister of the three sisters.
In her Instagram announcement, the Irish actress revealed that her premiere look was “a little different than expected”, sporting a matching bathrobe and hair towel.
We don’t know about you, but we’re definitely not looking so good while recovering from a virus. The Derry Girls star still managed to look fabulous in her matching red lipstick and nails along with her sparkling accessories.
She continued, “So I’m devastated by Miss Rona and missing our first premiere – heartbroken is an understatement but I’m sending so much love to my beautiful castmates I hope have the best night.”
The event sure was a big night for Coughlan as she was revealed to be the mysterious Lady Whistledown in the finale. We expect the upcoming season will document her efforts to hide her identity from her best friend Eloise and continue to write about high society gossip.
Where was Phoebe Dynevor?
Due to conflicting filming schedules, Dynevor was forced to pass on the star-studded event.
The 26-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story: “Sad not to be with my Bridgerton family tonight – celebrating another season and our incredible cast and crew. I’ll raise a glass to all of you from the far north (or rather a coffee night shoots shout out).”
She also shared a throwback photo of herself dressed up as Daphne to celebrate the premiere.
