Professional “Dancing With the Stars” dancer Artem Chigvintsev found out from his future wife Nikki Bella that the show was leaving ABC.

After 16 historic years on ABC, the ballroom dancing competition will air on Disney+ for at least the next two seasons. The show will make history as the first show to be streamed live on the service.

Professional dancers and judges from the show have shared excited reactions to the move, but not all knew about it in advance.

Nikki Bella was “shocked” by the news.

bella spoke to ET Online about the move and what it was like when the show announced it. She said she and her fiancé were both shocked by the news.

“I was shocked too,” Bella told the outlet. “It was mostly because I saw it online on social media. I immediately thought, ‘Artem, you’re going to Disney+.’”

She added: “I also feel bad for the viewers who can’t afford streaming services. I think Tanzen was such an outlet for people to enjoy with family. I hope it’s for the best. I also think it’s cool that they make history by being the first live [show] when streaming. So it can actually open a lot of doors.”

Bella and Chigvintsev met in 2017 while working together on Dancing With the Stars. At the time, Bella was engaged to John Cena. After their split, Chigvintsev and Bella announced their relationship in July 2019. They got engaged four months later.

Bella & Chigvintsev have set a wedding date

In an interview while attending the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards, Nikki told Bella Us weekly that she and Chigvintsev have set a date for their upcoming wedding.

“We have set a wedding date,” she shared. “I’ll be giving a hint very soon that it’s Fall 2022.”

Her sister, Brie Bella, also spoke out on the matter after being told she had to “make an effort” because she was the maid of honor.

“Which means I have to give a heartfelt speech, not be drunk and have my shit together,” Brie told the outlet.

Chigvintsev recently shared a sweet tribute to his family and son Matteo.

Chigvintsev posted photos from the final night of the tour, where he invited his son Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev and fiancée Nikki Bella onto the stage, along with a lengthy caption about his time on tour on Instagram. The couple’s son is one year old.

“What a tour lots of ups and downs going from almost 5 weeks of missing due to covid and pneumonia to see my son Teo watching me perform for the first time to bring my little family up on stage and them to say how much I love her and how much family support means to me,” he wrote. “I am very grateful to share this stage with the most talented people I know who are each and every one of them a bright shining star.”

He concluded: “Miss you all already.”

Dancing With the Stars returns to a new home in Fall 2022. The show will now air live exclusively on Disney+ instead of ABC.
