Nine new shorts arrive May 4th

Animation is a medium, not a genre, as filmmaker Guillermo del Toro likes to say. Nothing about it should inherently be considered “less than” when compared to live action. As ardent fans know, this tool gives innovative storytellers the opportunity to flex their muscles and dream up some of the most visually spectacular and tone-jumping stories we could ever dream of, freed from the sometimes stifling constraints of more traditional films or displays.

So for everyone who felt a little burnt out from the last “Star Wars” projects (raises his hand), Young we have the perfect remedy for you. We knew that Star Wars: Visions Season 2 would be streaming on Disney+ on the announced Star Wars Day, which falls on May 4th annually. What we didn’t know was how stunning the footage would be or how good certain established studios would adapt to the incredibly familiar world of Star Wars. As it turned out, we didn’t have to doubt for a second.

Volume 2 of the critically acclaimed series appears to be just as distinctive and exciting as the first, spearheaded by Aardman Animations (aka the studio behind the popular stop-motion animated shorts Wallace & Gromit) and a motley crew of other studios around the world. Star Wars: Visions Season 2 Writers and Directors Include Rodrigo Blaas (El Guiri Studios), Paul Young (Cartoon Saloon), Gabriel Osorio (Punkrobot), Magdalena Osinska (Aardman), Hyeong Geun Park (Studio Mir) , Julien Chheng (Studio La Cachette), Ishan Shukla (88 images), LeAndre Thomas (D’art Shtajio) and Justin Ridge (Lucasfilm) as well as Nadia Darries and Daniel Clarke (Triggerfish).

Star Wars: Visions launches May 4, 2023 on Disney+.
